[Young journalist Siwon Lee] South Korea in the United Nations Security Council, UNSC, had successively finished the rotating presidency mission. 

According to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, the representative office held the session at the UN Headquarters in New York, led by Ambassador Cha Ji-hoon, to explain the accomplishments of Korea’s UNSC presidency over the past month.

In this session, Jihoon Cha introduced the debate topic of AI and international peace and safety, as well as gratitude towards the UN. 

In the Korean Cultural Center New York, the Korean Mission held the last reception with about 170 participants from Security Council member states and UN Secretariat officials. 

The United Nations Security Council is the council which is responsible for world peace, and 15 member states of the United Nations Security Council take turns serving as president for one month in alphabetical order.

Presiding countries preside at unofficial conferences and have the authority to represent other UN member countries and UN organizations. 

South Korea is working as the United Nations Security Council for 2024~2025, which was in a year and 3 months after last June.
