[Young Journalist Sophia Lee] Hyundai Motors and Kia both recorded a decline in sales in the global market in November. Sales of Hyundai Motors decreased by 2.4% compared to the same month last year, and 0.8% for Kia.

Hyundai Motors stated on December 1st that they sold a total of 349,507 cars in November. Among these, domestic sales were 61,008 cars, which is 3.4% lower than last year. Overseas sales decreased by 2.2%, with  288, 499 cars sold, 

The detailed analysis of domestic sales revealed that 18,099 sedans were sold, with the order of ▲6499 Grandeur, ▲5897 Sonata, ▲5459 Avante.

22,643 RVs were sold with ▲5124 Palisade, ▲3947 Santa Fe, ▲5384 Tucson, ▲2743 Kona, and ▲2292 Casper.

4109 Porter and 2500 Staria were sold. Sales in Commercial models like medium-to-large buses and trucks recorded 2113 in total.

The Genesis brand sold 11,465 cars. ▲3721 G80, ▲3203 GV80, ▲3770 GV70 led sales.

A staff of Hyundai Motors stated that “We plan to strengthen the sales and production system that can adapt to the change in local demand and policy environment” and “we will focus on expanding the market share by maintaining the sales volume mainly with hybrid cars, and launch of competitive new cars”.

Kia stated they sold 262,065 cars for the same period of time in the global market(wholesales basis). Domestic sales were 47,256 cars, 1.6% lower than the previous year. Overseas sales decreased by 0.8%, with 213,889 cars sold. 

Sales of special vehicles were tallied up to 920 cars, with 669 within the country and 251 overseas.

With the analysis of Kia’s domestic sales, sales of RV models stood out. Sorento was sold the most, at 10,047. With ▲6868 Sportage, ▲5305 Carnival, ▲4640 Seltos, ▲1379 Niro, the whole sales of RV recorded 30,760.

For the passenger vehicle segment, with ▲4216 Ray, ▲3827 K5, ▲2569 K8, a total of 12,600 cars were sold. Commercial models sold 3896 cars, and Bongo III accounted for 2814 of them.  

In the overseas market, Sportage became the best selling model with 42,483 sales, followed by the Sonet (19,320) and Seltos (17,653)

A staff of Kia said that “the company will focus on sales improvement with major SUV hybrid models and eco-friendly vehicles lineup like EV5 and PV5.”
